Invoking Mercutio by calling down a plague on both houses of extremists. I don’t see Trump doing this as he’s had months to do it and hasn’t (as you say, he’s done quite the opposite by praising one side as righteous). I hope Biden does blow the whistle and soon.

I realize he’s in a pickle as he doesn’t want to alienate BLM and those that are legitimately protesting for equality. But, he can’t have it both ways. He has to draw a distinction between legal protests and illegal looting, destruction of property and vigilante justice and articulate a plan for how the latter stuff will be dealt with.

We’ve seen what Trump is willing to do. It rightly disturbed a lot of people. But, whatever momentum that may have given the Dems has waned because they’ve been unable or unwilling to put forth an alternative plan to quell the lawlessness and violence (at least that I can see). If people believe their only choices are heavy handed use of force against our own citizens or allowing the unlawful activity to continue unabated, many will choose the former. This is how the Dems could very well snatch defeat from the jaws of what should be a resounding victory.
